My Buns Stuck
|
| |
A couple of times lately, I've tried to put a bit of "brown" on soft sandwich buns (which I think contain more sugar than some sorts of bread), both on a hot grill, and in an electric buffet skillet where I was cooking the sandwich innards. One time, I spread a bit of butter on the cut sides of the buns, that other, I just wanted to use a bit of... more »

Roasting a chicken
|
| |
Watching one of the old reruns of Julia Child and she's showing how to prepare a chicken for roasting. I just love this woman. She removed bony elbows on the wings and she even removed the wishbone from the breast part. Do you guys do that? I've roasted many chickens and never done that. Is it the same for roasting a turkey?... more »

"Use-It-Up Cookbook" - which one is better?
|
| |
There seem to be two. "Use It Up Cookbook: Creative Recipes for the Frugal Cook" by Catherine Kitcho, 1984 "The Use-It-Up Cookbook: A Guide to Using Up Perishable Foods" by Lois Carlson Willand, 1979. As it happened, Amy Dacyczyn praises the latter in "The Complete Tightwad Gazette," but Kitcho's book gets more positive reviews in... more »
