the conception ratio is actually closer to 60/40 boys to girls -- the birth ratio is about 51/49 boys over girls.

I don't think in my experience. The two worst ones were Peter and my twin girls (but twins are notorious for bad morning sickness). #2 (girl) and #6 (girl) had no real morning sickness at all; #5 (boy) had quite a bit of queasiness, but not a lot of actual throwing up (just once or twice).

No, you've both got it wrong :-) You're more likely to *conceive* a boy (about 106 boys are conceived to every 100 girls) and *slightly* more likely to deliver one (about 101 boys are delivered to every hundred girls) - but by the time they are one year old, it has evened out.

Uff da -- you and Helen are right! I knew there was something lurking around in the back there, but forgot about the one-year time span tipping the balance permanently in favor of girls. thanks
I had morning sickness, actually it was more like, ever time I eat, sickness with my daughter, and I could eat next to nothing for 2-3 months, with my son I was never running for a toilet, just dizzy all the time, dr, said after I had him it was because of low iron. Karen Good luck

It's just an old wives tale. My SIL was hospitalised with all three of her pregnancies and she had 3 boys. My sister was the same and her first was a girl and the 2nd hasn't been born yet. I really think it depends on the individual person and how their body reacts to the hormones. I wouldn't put any stock in it if I were you.
I don't think so. I had morning sickness with both my pregnancies and my first is a boy. This pregnancy is supposed to be a boy (we'll see for sure in 5 weeks) as well and my morning sickness was severe enough for the ob to schedule a u/s to see if it was twins or something.

There is actually some truth to that I recently read a study they had done somewhere(I don't remember where I read it.) they have found that women who are carrying girls do tend to have more morning sickness then those carrying boys. It is due to an increse hormones, which you have more of when carrying a girl. I have two boys and I did not have so much as one day of morning sickness or even nausea with either one. Lynn

I had two girls with mild MS...now I'm having a boy and I was so sick I was out of work for 3 weeks...couldn't lift my head. It lasted 3 months...every day being sick! I had to be on Zofran to help control it. So ...I don't think there's truth to it.

I usually lurk in here but had to reply to this one....lol I have 2 daughters ages 8 and 4 and was never sick at all with either of them except heartburn. I am now 32 weeks pregnant with our first boy and I've had morning sickness and ever other side effect of pregnancy. I guess it's true that everyone is different and so is every pregnancy.

With me, it was just the opposite. My morning sickness (well, nausea--I never did throw up although there were times when I felt I might) was worse with my son (child #2) than with my daughter.

I had two weeks ofall day and night 'morning' sickness with my first two and I had a boy and then a girl. This latest preg I've had 5 months of it! I'm sure it will be interesting to see what I have.
